    Campy 12 Speed

Posted by Mark Seedall on 17th Aug 2020

I wanted to go to Campy 12 speed to lower the gearing and selected the Chorus since it comes in a 48 32 chainring and I am using a 11-34 cassette. Prior to the 12 speed I was running a Chorus compact double with a square taper bottom bracket. This Chorus requires an Ultra Torque Bottom Bracket. The fixing bolt is not titanium but is alloy and tightens clockwise, not counterclockwise. Getting the crank lined up correctly was a bit tricky, but I got it to work and tightened the fixing bolt to 42 Nm. Pretty darn tight. I have only ridden the bike once for a test spin since installing and the shifting on this 12 speed crank seems very good so far. I really like the low gears. So, I think this is going to be a great new addition to my bike, especially after I have a bit more time to fine tune all of the adjustments on the front and rear derailleurs. The 12 speed has little tolerance for anything being even the slightest bit out of alignment.
