The Gossamer road crankset includes an FSA Mega Exo integrated bottom bracket. By integrating the spindle and crankarms into one unit there is no more bottom bracket flex such as that found on non-integrated units where the crankarm attaches to the spindle with a bolt. They are one and the same. And by adding bearings that are external to the bottom bracket shell the oversized bearings provide additional stiffness. FSA’s Gossamer uses cold forged aluminum crankarms with a monocoque crankarm / spider combo. The chainrings (standard 130 mm bolt circle diameter) are precision CNC machined 7075/T6 that are ramped and pinned for perfect shifting. The Mega Exo bottom bracket uses oversized cartridge bearings and an oversized spline-integrated chromoly bottom bracket axle. The bottom bracket cups come in two sizes: BC-1.37” x 68mm (English threading) or M36 x 70mm (Italian threading).
